In His Father’s Arms, by Beth Wiseman

A story of love and acceptance of their first born child having Down Syndrome. The need to know why God and understand his plan for them. This story brought me to tears. Bravo!
I can relate to this one. Teen parents, firstborn struggling to adjust to not only the demands of a newborn, but also to the challenges of a special needs child. I didn’t like how Ruth Anne treated her friend when she found out her secrets, and I didn’t care for the way Ruth Anne and Levi shut each other out, but that, unfortunately is realistic in cases like that. I did like Ruth Anne’s spunk and courage. And I enjoyed the way Levi loved the baby. This was a sad story.
In His Father’s Arms is a beautiful, albeit unexpected story of a young couple who are expecting their first baby. Ruth Anne and Levi have been preparing for months... waiting anxiously for their baby's arrival.

But they find themselves unprepared when they receive the news that their precious Joshua is a special needs baby.

Levi, feeling like it’s his fault, pulls away from the church, Ruth Anne, and baby Joshua. Meanwhile, Ruth Anne feel more and more frustrated that her husband has become a stranger to her.

Most people already know – or could guess – that the Amish believe babies are a blessing… and a baby born with any type of handicap or problem – is a special blessing from God.

Babies are a blessing!

But raising a family takes a lot of hard work – from everyone. A special needs child requires much more work at times. I have some experience with this… and I can tell you it’s difficult, it’s frustrating, it’s expensive – and it’s worth every penny… every tear… every moment.

This story reminds us that we can do anything… with God’s help.
This book has believable characters that have God as their refuge to help them work through their problems.

Touching story. I enjoy reading all the Amish romance books. Living among the Amish in Western Pennsylvania we
were use to seeing and doing business with the Amish. However we knew very little about their private lives.
Even though these stories are fiction it's nice to know that what you see on the out side of these people,
do not reflect the cold nature on the inside.
I would recommend this books and others like it to a friend.
This is a really great book. I laughed and cried with them. I liked that Beth took an illness and ran with it. I know some things about it that I did not know and glad I do now. It is a very good book and I am so glad that that I got it and read it. Great job Beth Wiseman.
